7 Things That Hurt a Narcissist

Let’s look at the “no contact” comment:
“If you’re not tied up in our drama, narcissists actually just look embarrassing to me…”

It goes on to describe how, if it weren’t for their defenses, they would be constantly embarrassed.

Another thing that hurts a narcissist is no contact. When you decide—regardless of what they think about you or what they want you to think—that when you go no contact, it does hurt them. They expect you to always want to come back. They expect you to always want them in your life.

Again, this is another way to show that they are insignificant to you. They don’t matter. You’re blocking them, and you’re just going about your life—and you’re going to be happy.

And if they have no access to you, for all they know, you’re living your best life. What this really does is it triggers their insecurities. Even though they don’t want you to know it—and even though they don’t want to admit it to themselves—narcissists are deeply insecure people. This is what the grandiose, false self is all about.

Another comment I’m going to paraphrase a little bit:
“The only revenge is no contact. It hurts them to their core. They like to get dirty—stay out of the pig pen. Because conflict is what makes them thrive. Indifference is like a sharp knife that cuts them deep.”

Conflict is what makes them thrive, and no contact and indifference really do cut a narcissist pretty deep.
