They do this because their brain cannot accept that someone else has more power than they do. But picking a fight with the law is like a small fish picking a fight with a shark. The real world does not care about a narcissist’s tears or their anger. A judge will not forgive them just because they throw a pity party.
No. When you see them getting arrested, losing major court cases, or getting fired because they could not keep their mouth shut—it is a beautiful sight. It means that delusional bubble has finally popped. They tried to punch a brick wall expecting the wall to apologize, and all they did was break their own hand.
Four, they get easily scammed by other predators. So, one of the most surprising things that happens during a narcissist’s downfall is that they become incredibly easy to fool.
A narcissist usually thinks they are the smartest person in the room. But when they are collapsing, they are starving for attention and praise. Their ego is so hungry that they will eat poison bait just because it looks shiny. Because they are so desperate for a quick win to prove they are still special—threat radar completely burns out.
If a scammer comes along and tells the narcissist that they’re a genius, the narcissist will believe it instantly. They will hand over their savings to a fake business partner. They will fall for cheap internet scams. They will give their trust to other con artists who are just playing a bigger, smarter game than they are.
When a narcissist gets scammed, it proves that their judgment is completely ruined. They are like a blindfolded person walking straight into a trap. They’re so obsessed with hearing people tell them how great they are that they completely stop paying attention to reality. Watching a manipulator get manipulated by someone else is the ultimate proof that they have lost their edge forever.
Number five—and the last one—they flee to a brand new city or country. When a narcissist has burned every single bridge in their life, they look around and realize the game is over.
Their family knows the truth. Their friends know they are just a liar. Their co-workers know they are toxic. They can no longer walk down the street and pretend to be a hero, because everyone in town has already seen them without their mask.
Because a narcissist cannot ever admit they were wrong or say they are sorry, they only have one move left. They can run away. They will suddenly pack their bags and move to a brand new city, a new state, or even a new country. They want a place where absolutely nobody knows their real name or their dark history.
