A narcissist’s mind is a merciless cost-benefit analysis engine rather than a complicated tapestry of emotions.
They function similarly to a psychological vending machine: they will continue to use it if they press a button (an insult, a demand, a pity play) and receive the desired snack (your emotional response, your compliance).
They don’t become sentimental when the machine begins consuming their coins and returning nothing. They simply locate a different machine.
Narcissists don’t just walk away. When the expense of interacting with you outweighs the benefit, they stop participating.
Winning a logical argument or engaging in dramatic confrontations do not lead to that critical shift. It results from methodically taking away their emotional clout, predictability, and access.
You will become nutritionally worthless and energetically costly to them if you adopt the following behaviours.
