Number one: they attempt to steal your soul by copying your traits and claiming everything you do as their own. The defeat of a narcissist begins when they realize they could not break your spirit. They targeted you because you had something they lacked: vitality, creativity, integrity, or a specific spark of light. When they realize they cannot extinguish that light, their jealousy turns into a pathological form of identity cannibalism. They don’t just want to beat you anymore; they want to completely replace you.
A defeated narcissist will start to dress like you, speak like you, and adopt the very personality traits they used to mock in you. This is a ruthless form of hostility because they have no internal core; they try to harvest yours. If you are a professional, they will begin to claim your ideas, strategies, and hard-earned results as their own original thoughts. They will stand in front of audiences and deliver your wisdom with a straight face, convinced that if they say the words, they own the soul behind them. This is the ultimate form of sabotage. They’re trying to steal the work of your life because they’re too hollow to create anything of their own. They cannot stand you because you are the original, and they know in the deepest parts of their rotted psyche that they are nothing more than a cheap plastic imitation. By copying you, they are trying to prove to the world—and to themselves, of course—that you are never special, that your traits are just parts that anyone can wear. It is a desperate, pathetic attempt to survive the shame of their defeat by wearing your skin.
Tactic 2: The Holy Mask
Number two: they retreat behind a holy mask, using fake spirituality to judge your power from a manufactured moral high ground. When a narcissist loses the battle of logic and strength, they will always flee to the battle of morality. When they can no longer argue the facts, they start arguing about your soul. A devastated, defeated narcissist will undergo a sudden, performative spiritual awakening. They adopt a holy mask, weaponizing scripture, meditation, or vibe culture to frame your strength as demonic or low vibrational.
While they continue to plot your destruction, they will speak in hushed and enlightened tones about how they’re praying for you or how they have forgiven your toxicity. This is a calculated move to flip the script. By playing the saint, they turn your boundaries into cruelty and your truth into persecution. They use this mask to recruit a new audience of spiritual flying monkeys who do not know the monster behind the prayer beads. They cannot stand you because your discernment sees right through the incense and holy words. They hate that you know the truth. The truth is that their spirituality is just a secondary mask of shame used to hide the same old ugly predator. They use God, the universe, or anything else as a shield to avoid the accountability that your presence demands. To them, being holy is just the latest way to feel superior when they have failed to dominate you in the physical world.
